Making the Case

Writer: Rhonda MooreRhonda Moore

Black Lives Matter…Indeed they do. I’m here for it, EVERY day and twice on Sunday. I’m here for the rallies, I’m here for the fight, I’m here for the legislation and I’m here for the love of all of our Black and Brown sons and daughters.

However, making the case for our Black & Brown sons and daughters serving in Blue lives’ mattering, has been a journey. A journey complicated by the badge’s history towards their own communities and a profession steeped in a culture of silence.

How does my son, a Black man of immense integrity who never wavered in speaking truth to power, thrive in Blue? Only he and other honorable Black & Brown in Blue know the internal struggles.

One thing is for sure, I know “my Black in Blue” and if it’s worth the fight for him, it’s worth making the case journey for me because we are MOMS of BOTH.
