"This blog is a welcomed open forum for Moms of both, sons and daughters of color and sons and daughter working in blue (law enforcement)

I too I’m a mom of both. Something that often feels like a double edge sword – an advantage and a disadvantage, plagued with feelings of pride and a profound sense of concern.

Pride for the accomplishment and recognition of her knowledge and skills but also concern for her wellbeing, in and out of uniform.

Concern in uniform, because as people of color we still see and experience the surreptitious and underhanded treatment in the workplace, even in law enforcement; and out of uniform, we are still just people of color! The double edge sword!

Things have to change! "
